Obituary of James Louis Williams

James Louis Williams (84) passed away June 11, 2015 in St. Maries, ID. He was born July 25, 1930 at Mayview located in Garfield County near Pomeroy, WA. He was the oldest of three sons born to Murel R. and Eileen G. (James) Williams. James grew up in the Mayview, Kirby, and Gould City area North of Pomeroy, later moving with his family to the Lewiston, Genesee, and Tensed area. James and Charlotte (Scoggin) were married at Pomeroy, WA May 23, 1952 and celebrated their 62nd anniversary in 2014 in St. Maries, ID. Three daughters were born to James and Charlotte: Denice Boice, Carol (Marty) McKinney, and Marquita Lopez. James had many talents and abilities making him able to work in various lines of work during his lifetime. He worked on the family farm in his early years, and then progressed into driving logging trucks, operating logging equipment, and constructing roads. He also worked as a chief of police in Riggins, ID where he liked to mine for gold, using diving equipment in the Salmon River. He was a good cook and loved hunting and fishing. James was a minister with the Assemblies of God. While he worked at other jobs, he also pastored in Winchester, Riggins, and new Meadows, ID. He attended St. Maries Assembly of God, ministering at Valley Vista in St. Maries with his wife Charlotte. In later years, he taught himself to play the guitar and the keyboard, and he could sing parts in a trio in a creditable manner. He also worked on a humorous narrative of his growing up years titled, “As I Remember It”. James was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte k. Williams, his parents Murel and Eileen Williams, a brother Burton L. Williams, and two grandsons Michael Boice and Brian Jarrett. He is survived by his brother Murvin D. Williams of St. Maries, ID, his dble sister in-law Laota (Burton L) Williams, St. Maries, ID, his 3 daughters, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service is planned for Friday June 19, 2015 11:00 am at the St. Maries Assembly of God Church. A graveside service will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries.
