Obituary

Carol Lynne Anderson, 84, of Harrison, Idaho, passed away on September 26, 2026, at Valley Vista Care Center in St. Maries, Idaho. She was born on June 14, 1942, in Niagara Falls, New York, and grew up in Anacortes, Washington, where she attended local schools and graduated from Anacortes High School with the Class of 1960.

While living in Washington, Carol met Paul Anderson, who was stationed at Whidbey Island while serving in the United States Navy. The two were introduced through mutual friends, and a friendship soon grew into a lifelong love. Carol and Paul were married in 1962, beginning a marriage that would span more than 64 years.

Paul's Navy career took the family to several places over the years, including Washington, Texas, and California. Wherever they were stationed, Carol made a home for her family. While living in California, she worked as a teacher's aide, beginning what would become many years of caring for and supporting children and educators.

Following Paul's retirement from the Navy, the couple settled on their property near Harrison, Idaho, a place Carol came to deeply love. She went to work for the St. Maries School District, first serving as a teacher's aide at Heyburn Elementary School and later becoming the school secretary. Carol had a special way with people and became a familiar and beloved presence at the school. She was a favorite among teachers, students, and parents alike, and countless children passed through the school during her years there knowing they would be greeted by Carol's kindness and caring nature. She retired after 24 years of dedicated service to the St. Maries School District.

Carol's faith was at the very center of her life. She was an active and devoted member of her church and generously gave her time wherever she was needed. She took great pride in the many years she spent teaching Sunday school and also volunteered with Vacation Bible School and numerous other church activities. Her faith was not simply something Carol spoke about; it was reflected in the way she lived, served others, and cared for those around her.

She was also a talented quilter and gardener. Carol especially loved growing roses, and anyone who knew her knew the care and attention she gave them. She enjoyed being outdoors, camping, spending time on the pontoon boat, and relaxing on the lake. Carol and Paul also shared a love of traveling and enjoyed seeing many places together, but no matter where their travels took them, Carol always knew that the beautiful place they called home in North Idaho was hard to beat.

Above all else, family was incredibly important to Carol. The life she and Paul built together, the family they raised, and the memories they created throughout more than six decades of marriage were among her greatest treasures.

Carol is survived by her husband, Paul Anderson, at their home in Harrison; son Steven Anderson of Harrison, Idaho; daughters Patricia Anderson of Seattle, Washington and Nancy Faith of Everett, Washington; brother Andy Tubbs of Sedro-Woolley, Washington; sister Sharon Werley of Raymond, Washington; three grandchildren; and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

Carol's family will honor her life with private services.

Memorial contributions in Carol's memory may be made to Harrison Community Baptist Church.

Carol leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service, and kindness. From the children she welcomed at school, to the young lives she touched through Sunday school, to the family she loved so deeply, her influence reached far beyond what she may ever have realized. She will be lovingly remembered for her faithful heart, her beautiful roses, her willingness to serve, and the warmth she brought to the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
