Steve John Brebner (64) lifelong resident of St. Maries, ID passed away at his home on June 8, 2025.  He was born to John and Sandra (Pugh) Brebner on September 16, 1960, in St. Maries, ID.  Steve grew up in St. Maries and graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1978.

Following high school, Steve went to work at Tenth Street Lumber and spent several years at the store.  He then went to work for Potlatch Corporation where he also spent many years.  Steve was versatile at the mill, working in all areas of the operation from green chain to processing.

Steve enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling, fishing, and martial arts.  Nascar was his passion; he went to several Daytona 500 races, and he even bought pit passes. He was a simple, kind, and gentle person who never married and later in life enjoyed being a home body.

Steve is survived by his brother Paul Brebner of St. Maries, ID; aunts Sharon (Richard) Procopio of Polson, MT and Darla Pugh of St. Maries, ID; uncle Lonny (Candy) Pugh of St. Maries, ID; niece Amber Ottoson; 1 great niece; and numerous cousins.  He is preceded in death by both of his parents; his brother Jim Brebner; uncles Stan (Gerri) Pugh, Ronald Pugh, Bill (Esper) Brebner, and James Brebner; aunts Frances (Willis)  Stillmaker, Helen Marie Brebner, Mary Carolyn Brebner, and Lucille (Lester) Nelson.

A graveside service will be on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries, ID.  A gathering for family and friends to share refreshments will follow in the fellowship hall at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
